Stained Glass

Working in stained glass is an interesting, rewarding and affordable hobby. With patience and practice almost anyone can master the skills required to turn out a masterpiece in glass.June shows of her first project. At Full MoonStudio we keep our classes small, therefore we can offer a high level of tuition to enable you to achieve a professional finish to your work.

We also believe that learning should be fun, so our students are encouraged to sing, dance, tell jokes, etc. while they work.

After a brief introduction and safety talk you will be instructed in the use of tools and equipment, glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling, soldering and finishing.

Leading classes will be available soon - ask for details.

We are also able to offer a beginner's class in mosaic work.  Students are taught to cut their own tessarae (mosaic tiles) from our wide selection of art glass and then build a 30 x 30cm panel or mirror frame.

Duration & fees

Happy smiley students.

Both stained glass and mosaic beginner’s courses last eight hours and can be taken in the evening in two hour sessions, or at weekends in either two mornings or two afternoons.

Other times by arrangement.

Continuation Classes

Our popular continuation classes are available to anyone with a basic knowledge of stained glass techniques.  These classes allow you the use of the studio and equipment (materials not included) to work on your own projects.  Technical assistance and encouragement is always available.

Projects completed at these sessions include sun catchers, candle holders, vases, lamps,  panels and windows.

Materials are available from stock.

Alison made these panels for her Mexican kitchen cabinet. The pattern was taken from the tiles that are mounted behind the spice rack.

Alison made good use of the dark winter nights by designing and building this window for her kitchen. The birds remind her of the time she spent in Australia. Native Australian Birds.

Katrina designed and made this beautiful tea light holder in her continuation class, this was her first 3D project. (Inspired by the opening credits for Monarch of the Glen?)

Morag's sea shore mosaic mirror was made from art glass and found objects.
